Anchor Oyster Bar

579 Castro St, San Francisco, CA 94114
Anchor is located in one of the most colourful neighbourhoods of San Francisco, Castro. A lively area with lots of boutiques and restaurants.
A contact recommended visiting Anchor, a small fish restaurant – no bigger then a few tables inside and out with lots of wood and zinc, marine style decor.
The whole place is put together well, has excellent service and simple, pure food.
My dinner consisted of fresh oysters, followed by the crab cakes – both very good. Service is professional and friendly – definitely a great recommendation!

The Oysterbar, Leidseplein, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

The Oysterbar, Leidseplein, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
For many years, The Oysterbar, located at the Leidseplein in central Amsterdam, was the seafood restaurant in town. It was the place to get acquainted with the real Amsterdam. Perfect combination of good food, great audience and all right in the heart of the city. As happens more often then not, unfortunately, the restaurant fell into disrepair and eventually was sold to someone who had little affinity with it. After about two years, it got sold again to a group who really had a passion for a great kitchen and good cooking. After a year of intense renovation, the restaurant has been brought back to its old glory and has once again become the place to have great seafood in a superb location and a wonderful atmosphere…and all that, only a stone’s throw from my favourite club Jimmy Woo
The restaurant caters to every comfort, and has superb staff and service.
My starter consisted of fresh oysters – first class with an entree of Sole a la Meuniere – done just right!

Nevy Amsterdam
by Adrie Reinders on Dec.12, 2008, under Restaurants
Yesterday night I had dinner at the newly opened restaurant “Nevy” in Amsterdam. This location used to be restaurant “Onassis”. The make-over turned out very well – they did not change the seating too much, but put a totally different colour scheme to use – which works amazingly well. However, as the interior design is mostly done with hard materials such as stone, marble etc. the sound does not get diffused much. It isn’t too much of an issue early on, but when the noise levels rise as the evening progresses it gets rather too loud. This is aggrevated by the bar which is in the middle of the restaurant. People standing/sitting at a bar tend to be very loud – so it disturbs the diner’s peace.
The food is excellent. I had oysters and Sole a la meuniere – the best I have had in a long time. Service is of a very high standard, little hiccups are taken care of swiftly and professionally. The servers obviously have worked in the better restaurants around.
Deserts were lovely – with a creative touch, just a little different and well executed.
